Hopped on quintrex website the other day looking at specs for 480 freedom sport and found the motor hp specs to read maximum 90hp. Last time i checked it was only 80hp. Was wondering if ne body new if this was a typo or the specs for new models. With a 90 those boats would have unreal performance!!! Just curious.

With a 90Hp it would be dangerous.

I dont know if I'd call 90hp scarey.....
I have a 75hp Merc 2st on my 480 and at WOT it flies. I'm sure the boat could possibly handle that much (max!!) if the transom weight isnt exceeded.

I was talking to the owner of Sunshine Coast Marine last Saturday when looking at the 480 Freedom and he confirmed that the transom has been upgraded to allow for the extra weight, so it is not a typo, it can handle a 90hp

Got one with an 80hp 4 stroke and it goes good. If the transom has been upgraded to take the extra weight I can't see any problem with the extra horses. The boat could handle it fine.

Thanks for that, i agree that i don't think it would be to over the top. Ive seen plenty of other boats with higher power to weight ratios than that. Sure would fly though. What speed do you get out of your 75 at WOT WOOF?

Ditto to above replies.

I'm in the market and within days of ordering a new 480 freedom sport with a 90hp etec.

They have indeed upgraded it, which is great cos we tested it with a 75hp and I felt it needed a bit more, although we did have 3 adults and a child in it.

More than happy with the boat on test, reckon be awesome with the extra 15hp though and needs it.

Bit concerned bout Quintrex quality issues read on other forums but post was 2002, so hoping they had a dodgy welder or whatever and binned him!

I found them on google, on Goldcoast.

6yrs in business against Quintrex 60yrs in business, not really a better pedigree, but they only do bowrider in 525, which is too big for me anyway.

Thanks all the same
