Have been looking for awhile..what is your recommended Insurer?
Seems that a boat with a few years on it has a high premium >:(

My excess is $1000
Mine is $100 and insured for $7,140.
I was originaly with Suncorp as i found Club Marine was becoming to expensive.
When i bought my new boat Club Marine was cheaper then Suncorp.
I am now with Club Marine.

Troy's pointed out my excess above. I elected to take the higher excess to keep the premium lower (I've got skiers included). I could also have taken a lower excess with a higher premium if I'd wanted. I'm with Suncorp - we get a 10% discount on all policies as we have 5 with them.
I've never made a claim in my life against any policy I've had, so it's what suits me. Well it did, until my encounter with the reef on Friday :(
Good luck,
Mike

Perhaps try RACQ and CGU insurance.
They also do Boat Insurance.

Interestingly enough mine is with CUA and is added to my house insurance which has an excess of $50. Now there is no mention of an excess on the boat. I did have a claim on them 3 times over the 20 odd years for the boat and never paid any excess other than the house and contents claims. Because I have several vehicles insurred with AAMI they approached me about my house insurance and surprisingly they have come in around 50% less than CUA. The crunch is that they don't insure boats and I have checked around and found other boat insurers substantially dearer. Don't want to change insurers as CUA have been really good to me and they have paid all claims promptly and with minimum of fuss. Will approach them though to maybe reduce the house insurance.

Im with RACQ.
In for $14500 excess of $150, have ski insurance as well.
HAve both my cars, house, contents etc with them as well and am a member so not to sure if that all plays into it.
