just been given an old evenrude 6hp. i was wondering does anybody know how to tell the age of it.
needs a bit of work but my kids can have fun pulling down the gearbox and rebuilding it

There is a web site somewhere that you can tell the age from the model number (you look it up on the list). However I can't find the link. If anyone has it, we would both appreciate it - I will have to add it to my Favourites.
I will have another look around myself too....

I know for sure it was for Johnson, pretty sure it was for Evinrude too....

use the model number on the engine will be something like A6?? CTS =83 model

There's also a better one that shows exploded views but I can't find it at the moment.
Your local library is also worth a shot. If you're in Bris try elibcat.

must be a the time for 6hp evinrudes as also picked up one to put on a small tinny for my daughters
also needs works
to find age of the motor have a look at this site

my son and daughter have torn it apart. it looks good except the gear lever is siezed into the top of the leg. the gearbox has been pulled apart and cleaned and put back together. just get a leg and away it goes
