Hi,

Just ordered a set of Reelax Reef 450 outrigger bases and 5.5metre poles, when fitting the bases should I angle them back a few degrees? or should I mount them facing straight up? any advice on installaion would be appreciated.

TIA

Is that a cruise craft you have there...? I am looking at purchsing a 6.25 explorer, so keen to see how your outriggers look once you fit them as I will look to put them on mine.

Hi Rob,

When setting up outriggers, you want them angled at about 30-45 degrees above the water and the tips when setup about pararell with the transom. The higher you get them the better. I have mine mounted off side of the cabin glass (got Cruisecraft to glass in a backing plate to reinforce the side where they bolt on). With your Relax, I think they are a deck/side mount, so finding the right location will be a matter of slipping in poles and setting up as if trolling to see how the poles angle etcbefore drilling holes to mount them. From memory Peter Goby's book on gamefishing shows how to set them up - library or local book shop might stock it - have a look.

Good luck
