Just reading the "Act" for QLD http://www.legislation.qld.gov.au/LEGISLTN/SLS/2006/06SL019.pdf (schedule 16 and 18) and read that for boats beyond partially smooth waters you need a PFD 1 (which makes sense to everyone) and if you have a jetski etc you only need a PFD 2. You also don't have to carry any of the other safety gear that a boat carries either. That is if I read the "Act" right ::)
Is that the governments way of sellective culling or what??
Go figure :-/

Hi scott
mate i only have (6) P.D.F 1 and (2) solaris for outside on board at all time along with all safety gear
there was talk back when they introduced the jetski lic that they where suppose to either be wearing the P.D.F 1 or the inflatable Life Jackets for Smooth, Particially smooth, and open waters but thats as far as it retained and after the accident on peel at the weekend i'll be adding 2 inflatables on board for when i'm fishing by myself or i have old Wombat45 on board me i can swim but the old fellow is not a good swimmer and to try and pull some to shore without a jacket you are only placing both your's and your passenager life at risk.
but i also beleive after this incident we may find it be compulsery to where them in the near future.

this make sense for the sudden death of a love one is there a price we can place on the investment of safety or is it to leave our love one's behind wishing we had brought the gear not just talked about it

as for the jetskiers if they wish to place there lives at risk then stupidity raines

i will not place my life or the life of friends, Families, or other peoples life at risk at any time.

Cheers ;D ;D

A PFD1 has neck support..a PFD2 does not...items such as PWC and for skiing a PFD1 is a dangerous item..it can break your neck if you come off at high speed.
