There are no performance add ons for outboards like car engines if you want more ponies you get another outboard.

unless its a 25hp detuned to an 18hp
most makers use the same block for 2 different hp motors
it use to be easy to rejet the carbs etc....
with injection and stuff now, it might be a different story

If I remember correct the 18 Tohy is the 15 Merc. so an upgrade to 25 isn't on the cards.
But a latish model 25 Tohy can go to 30HP.

Mine has been altered and if you want a bigger motor I have one for sale and I maybe interested in a trade on the 18. :)

If you were really dead set keen you could set the reed valves back further and drill out the main jet in your carb, and advance the timing a touch, better still port out your crankcase and transfer port, and shave a few thou off your cylinderhead and run her on a higher octane fuel.

Anything's possible but at the end of the day you would have a more highly stressed engine more prone to wearing out quicker which is why your best bet would be to go for a bigger motor. Like I say "There's no substitute for cubic inches." The 18 Tohie is based of the 15 so there's no quick shortcuts to more horsepower.

Cheers Adam ;)
