Built mine. You can get Capral to cut aluminium sheets,to suit your needs.

Poly board can also be purchased,to size.

I made a template out of card board, cut out the shape with jigsaw, had it folded, then welded.
Bolt on is best

I used 50X50 angle for the top surround, some 12 X12 Square to make a gutter on the edge of the angle, then screwed the poly to the 12X 12 square.
Put a drain in one corner.
Sides are checker plate.

Take care to make the front lower,or at least level with the board, for cutting purposes.I now have a shelf under the top,and stuck fish measurements on the back part of the board surround.
Also recommend that you make provision for knife holder, on the side.
Where are you situated?

I designed one and had it made for me. I just bolted it to the boat. Has the advantage of protecting the motor when pusing through narrow mangrove creeks.

i take it that if you have the bait board over the top of your motor, the engines have trim and tilt, otherwise wouldn't it get in the way of lifting the engine up?? :-? or walk through transoom??

dnej - very good job, looks good mate, very professional look to it 8-)

I'm looking for a supplier of polyethylene sheeting to build one as well. Does anybody know where to get it from (in NSW)

hey mine is kinda the same as dnej and we used the plastic from the middle of the recycling bin and cut out holes in the vorners so all the fish blood, guts e.t.c drains out.

ill try and get some pics.

I'm back and here's the board. It's cutting surface is about 700 X 310mm. It has knife or whatever storage to the rear and two rod holders set at 60 degrees just incase of trawling a spinner/lure.
just have to go to the butcher who said he had some old cutting boards and away we go. Ooh, there's two knurled bolts I made that screw into the front of the board to hold the cutting board down just in case ;)
It sits in 2 rod holders already in the transom with a couple of tapered bushes that go over the posts and jam against the sides of the existing rod holders just to keep things nice and tight.

Forgot to mention there's a draining channel in the front with a pipe going out towards the back. It just needs a bit of hose shoved on to get all the muck into the water instead of in the engine well :)
It aint going to break easy. It's all 3mm plate :)

mines got a 200mm deep drain at the back, and a big storage tray underneath.
i think you will find aluminium will be easier to get one built in. a friend of mine has made them in glass before (shape up 75mm thick foam, glass over, dig out foam when glass goes hard), but he's a professional glasser (moved to sydney now) and knows what he's doing. any alloy fab shop will be able to make one for you.

I know this is a very budget model but I only have a punt so it needed to be removable and as I do 90% lure fishing I don't use it much.

The knives just slot in, all the blood and guts drain over the side througfh the drain holes and the board is a $4.95 bucket board from K-mart :)

This just fixes to the rail of my boat in any position I want :)

I can thgrow all my bait in the area around the main cutting board and the large space on the boat side allow for my hands when cutting. :)

Sean

And finally, with the cutting board removed, notice the twon round lugs that slot into two holes on the underside of the bucket board.
Like I said, Home brand, at a total price of $4.95 ( I had all the other gear) it does the job.......The surrounding timber frame is hung down over the main ply shelf to provide a drip mould. Sean :)

I finished mine on the weekend.

I had some condition I wanted to keep and that was I dodn't want to modify the boat in any way ie drilling, holes, brackets etc so it can be removed to keep the original layout.

It works well as i need to bleed a 65cm Sambo on Sat and it held up well.
