Hi All,
I am looking at fitting a 55lb Minn Kota bow mount to my 435 Hornet Trophy and was wondering if anyone could tell me whether it needed the 48" or 54" shaft.
Even if the 48 was OK would there be any benefit going for the 52 on the off-chance that I later get a boat that is higher out of the water than the Trophy?
Also any suggestions on what battery would be best.
Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks.

Mate It's like a couple of other things in life,
better to have extra length and not need it, than need it and not have it ;D ;D ;)
For your hornet but, the 48" would be good. I have the 54" on my 445 Allycraft dory, and still have some room to move.
As for the battery, Gel or absorbed glass mat are both good. I have a gel, but both have pro's and con's
Jase.

Hey,
My dad has a 435 hornet trophy and uses a 55lb minnkota with the 54" shaft. It is better because when in a little chop and the nose is lifting somewhat the prop stays in the water longer than one with a 48" shaft ;)
Gel deep cycles are good but very expencive.. I would just make sure you get a deep cycle battery rated for at least 120amp hours to get some decent use out of one charge. my dad and I both carry 2 deep cycles in the boat just in case we fish the whole day ::) and in case one dies we have the spare, nothing worse than getting on the water and finding your only battery is cactus or you had forgetten to charge it!!! ;D ;D
Cheers

Got the 48" shaft on my 435 Hornet. Long enough for my boat. The only time the pro comes uout of the water is out at Somerset with those bloody wakeboarders and their huge washes. I'm running a Amptech lead acid battery. 120amp/hr by memory. Lasts for a 2 day comp. Hope this helps
