we call this species in the uk "Perch".. or it has a nickname of stripey. 3lb fish is truley a speciman.. well done.

Might have to head south a few hundred km, bloody hard to get I think the cod stocking in the dams has made them into food.

Those really do look like what we call yellow perch here in the states. They look bigger than our fish though. That is a great fish! Nice catch! Also, that lure looks real good too. I'm going to have to try and get one of those myself. Great post!
