Nice Trout from Four Springs Lake.
First trip out this season and the only fish of the day.
Almost 7lb taken on a 5cm bibbed lure.
Very fit and very fat for this time of the year.

Jamie,
I've just moved to Hobart from Brissy and have been following your posts with interest.
Managed to get up to Craigbourne a few weeks ago

Nothing like your monsters which I'm guessing were from last season.
We'll have to ctach up for fish one day.

Hi Brett
Welcome to Tas mate.
Yeah we caught those not long after the last big stocking of the lake a few months back.
My father went out today but did no good at all.
He tells me the lake is in a mess with some algea due to the fact that we have had no rain this season.
It is best avoided if it gets to bad, go further up to the midlands Arthurs Great lake etc.
The best way to fish it is keep your ear to the ground as they stock it regularly with trophy salmon and rainbows.
We do a lot of product testing on my kures there from time to time.
I am based up at Beaconsfield so I only get down that way about once or twice a month.
We will have to keep in touch and hook up one day soon.
As soon as I can get some time out from making lures to go fishing.
A bit ironic isnt it ;D

nice trout mate ,caught plenty big stocked trout but never had a tail like that
just wondering if youd tried bails of hay in the lake ?, as this stops most of the algea in u.k summertime

Gday mate
Yeah ive heard that the hay stops the algea but never seen it in use.
I wish the fisheries would have a go at doin something when it gets bad cause it hampers the fishin something terrible when it gets thick.
If ya work hard down deep you can still catch ya fair share but the lake looks unapealling to fish in and turns me off a bit.
Maybe they will come up with a solution one day.
