While going through my pictures I found this one of a 65cm Cod caught 19/11/06 in Stormking Dam

I guess this is why we just keep on chasing them. Size does not count when they are this beautifully marked and colored, the sense of pleasure felt in meeting them, then seeing them swim safely away.

Forty plus years I have been doing this and the magic is still the same, in fact better as the moments are so easily captured now and the memories re-lived.

Fish safe and smart and protect for future generations.

:)imay be a young fella by some people ::) i know exactly what your saying , there just too good to catch once a beautiful fish and some one else will get the pleasure of catching a legend. i let all my cod go and people still ask me why and how they would love a feed of fish, and i tell them the fish and chip shop is just down the road. ;D. i want my kids and there kids to catch fish ;) like i do now. cheers bdowdy ;)

bdowdy,

The change is happening and people like yourself by taking and pointing out the joy of fishing to their children will ensure a future for all to enjoy.

Its OK to take the odd legal fish for the table but not to the excess that once was common place, I also don't believe in the trophy hunter mentallity of killing to prove you got the largest specimen. A picture is worth a thousand words and a refreshing reminder of a memorable release.

Cheers,

Howard

Thats a beauty mate!! . ;)
I went for a fish yesterday at a friends place and she asked if I could keep one for her ,hope she doesn't read this becauce I told her we only got a couple undersize. ;). We end up with 17 ,10 or 11 might have been legal size ::).
Heres a pic of a nice little Macintyre cod.

Beautiful looking fish. My first episode of catching Murray Cod was at Yarrawonga in NSW. One of my fondest fishing memories as they are such a wonderful fish. Agree that they are too nice to catch only once.

G/day wamjam.

Nice Cod its good to see others are shareing in the big girls in Storm King and doing the right thing in releasing them.

Just for my own records have you got the details of the capture and gear used. I am recording all I can to see if there is a pattern to these big fish.

I record the fish details, weather, time, am pm, water temp etc.

These big fish are the ones I would love to tag, I am sure over the years I have caught and released the same fish several times.

The biggest to date was 125 cm 26/3/06

Cheers

wamjam,

I believe the dam holds bigger ones than that, I am currently after one I saw 2 weeks ago, it looked to be a better fish again. It took about 6 weeks to get the 125cm one after first spotting it.

They are an awesome fish, i was going through an old mag last night and saw a 35 kilo fish taken from the Murrimbidgee quite a few years ago. Its a sad sight seeing something lik that taken....
