The recent cold snap has seen plenty of icey stuff making the grass cruntchy under foot with the mercury dropping under two degree's in the upper boyne valley, this in turn has dropped water temperatures even further on the lake and is likely to put the barra off the bite for a while. Thank god we only get a short cold spell in the CQ region.
Gladstone city is also seeing a cold snap with temps dropping to seven dregress during the night.
Might be a good time to head to close offshore reefs for snapper.

Alway's the odd barra to be caught on Lake Awoonga during the colder months but they are few and far between for those who arn't wired up.
A heavy frost hit the Boyne Valley and dropped water temps dramatically in recent days, killed off a lot of fruit trees on a mates property.
Unless your local, it might pay to save your trip until Sept-Oct -Nov.
Don't forget, we have some great shallow reef, estuary and offshore fishing at this time of year if the weather is kind.

Nice going Awoonga,
Also captured and released two barra in Iffley creek today, not quite a metre though but still in the high 90's. Weed beds are the go for sure. Met up with several other locals who didn't even get a catfish.
Almost unheard of.
Used Nitro Express 110mm and B52 standard in gold.
Got real chilly just on dark and gave it away, late afternoon seem to be the best time.

Trevor
Is that the slick rig or the squidgy fish? When you told me a drop bear I thought you meant type not colour lol.

Hey Trevor, I will be up there on Friday morning probably 10 to 11am. I am staying at a friends place across from the mater hospital in Gladstone, I will probably catch you on the water during the 4 days that I'm there. I will leave Awoonga at around lunch time..
Cheers
Murray
