Hey guys,

Fished the Russell twice this week and picked up a few fish. The tidbit of flooding about a fortnight ago turned on the fishing and it has slowly tapered off. Lost a couple of real big sooties wednesday. Final tally for both sessions was sooty-5 jack-4, barra-2, jp-2. Heres a few pics...

Tim,

Obviously BB is out the fishing The Bluewater today so I'll answer that one for ya ;D !

Russell River is about 15mins drive North of Innisfail, around 2-3km short of Mirriwinni. The Russell is probably my favourite on the coast... The Freshwater reaches of it are tremendous for Sooty Grunter and Jungle Perch. The fishing throughout the Russell is very productive, although you got to take care in a boat as some spots close to the brackish water are still very shallow with many sandbars. Since the Cyclone it has brought alot more structure I have found, which the fish congregate heavily around.

Check out BB's Website for more... It's loaded with pic's and plenty more info on FNQ.

We did a couple of short trips this week aswell. The action wasn't that great. Got similar fish but in lower numbers. Managed a silver grunter amongst it (pretty rare catch). Here they are anyway:

Nice one Dan!

That job looks like it's gonna go ahead, so will be back to Cairns soon. There's also rumours of a job up there for me... ;)

Nice report mate. I can't see the first three pics. Not sure what the go is there.

Never heard of a silver grunter. Did you get it in the fresh?

Pete.

Yeah guys what happened I presume has to do with the upgrade of the ausfish site recently (the pics posted before the upagrade have been lost). Here they are to see again:) .

Matthais- yep in the fresh, all of the fish here were taken in the Russell's upper reaches.
