Hi guys, I'm a first generation fisherman so everything I know I have taught myself or learnt by asking questions from grumpy old men :)(normally complete strangers) who are generally really nice people only too happy to share their knowledge.
I've been trying to catch darkies for some time now but have had all the beginners type of problems. :'( I live in Newcastle and I had problems finding weed. One really cranky guy >:( and another not so cranky guy :( parted with some info that led me in the right direction. :D
Armed with weed I went to a place reported to be good for Luderick yesterday and guess what? After numerous trips of nothing I caught one, and then another and then a third one. WOW I am so happy. ;D ;D ;D
I just had to share this info. ;D
For those of you who were taught by your Dad, Mum, Uncle,Aunt or Grandma and Grandad how to fish I hope you realise how lucky you are. Trying to teach yourself where to go when and what to take can take a lifetime.
Armed with my new found knowledge I ventured out again today but to a different spot. After 4 hours I hooked a fish. I wore him down and stepped onto the rock below to retriev him. It was low tide and the rock was slippery. You guessed it I went in up to my armpits.
By the time I got out the fish was still on so I landed him with no further fuss. Poor fish had been foul hooked under the eye. That is one unlucky fish. :P
Anyway as I said I had to share this because I am over the moon. Fishing makes me so happy but even happier when I have learnt a new aspect of it.
