I am pretty sure that it is a gold spot blubber lips.
A type of morwong, not renowned for its eating qualities!

Looks like a "painted blubberlips" a close relative of the slatey bream or "Moreton Bay Morwong"

It's a gold spot blubberlip all right. The painted blubberlip (Blackall) is totally different.

Weedy Bream also known as mother in law tastes like a thong. Only use in the ocean is target practice and burley for spearfishermen. Taste bloody awful.

Definately the Gold Spot Blubberlip. I caught a 1.5Kg one down at Hastings Point a few years ago.
The flesh has a very weedy taste - not very pleasant. [smiley=thumbsdown.gif]

Thongs taste like weedy bream
I assume you mean a thong that goes between your toes, and not the one the ladies wear. Cause the ones the ladies wear taste really different.
