I will be heading north mid march for my honeymoon .
After spending a week boating round the whitsundays ( with rod in the water all week ;) ) ...we will be heading up to Palm Cove .
The Mrs has already granted me atleast a one day fishing trip up there at my disposal...can't complain after a week of fishing off our boat, still is supposed to be a honeymoon ..

heres the question , how am i best using it ?

I am thinking of going on a fly / lure casting trip chasing barra / jacks / queenies etc etc etc ..never gotten a barra before.

Can anyone give me advice on locations / guides / rates up in that area ? ..i will be there between 16th and 21st of March .
anything that can put me on track so i can book someone over the next few weeks .

cheers

try peter todd @ aquacat for reef bottom bashing charters, all tackle sportsfishing for lure and fly, and fishing the tropics runs light game and inshore fishing. all weather dependant of course.

Palm Cove jetty is actually quite a good spot for fishing. Many a Mackeral have been caught there so give that a go when you cant get out. You'll be suprised at what you'll pull up there.
There are heaps of charter boats going out of Yorkeys and Cairns. If you do an internet search, you'll find them, but as above, Peter Todd does seem to put his anglers on the mark.
Enjoy, Karen

The chances of catching mackerel at pc pier are dependant almost entirely on conditions. If there are high seas forget it, if theres clean water get your gear ready. In the past two months it has changed from good to bad and vica versa probably three times. Sorry don't know about charters :-/
