i am no expert on this but i use 30lb line with a 80lb leader & ganged hookes or lure can use wire trace but fewer bites.
where are you fishing? from boat or land?

Well im a pro angler here in the states we use 15 to 20 lb line with about 5 lb of drag after 1st run we chase the kings down the reason we use such light line is because we use small #4 to a #2 treble hooks. with heavy line when they take 300 yards out on that first run, if they turn draging that much heavy line the hooks can pull out heres the rig we use with live bait. if you want to see how we rig our bait visit this link
