I like the orange popper that's swinging around near his head in the early stages of that first one ::)

Poppers Smoppers, Soft Plastics is the way to catch GT's (just kidding) - we actually cast poppers for GT's for hours this day and gave up, reverting to targeting reefies with Soft plastics when what do you think happened - that's right - a damn GT ate my soft plastic ::) ::) ::)

A bit hard to see in the pic, but a Terminator Snapback 5" Jerkbait (Blue Glimmer)

have downloaded the first vid, but am unable to download the other 2, am wondering if someone out there could download, burn to disc and send it to me up here in sunny Darwin, happy to cover costs.
Cheers Ian

Bobby - it was caught north of Rockhampton amongst the offshore islands (Percy Islands to be exact).

NIZ, Nah, no articles published recently, but am working on one (top secret). Keep your eyes peeled. Only caught that fish the week before last. Maybe you saw it in my post in the Reports section (Stanage Bay 22-29 Jan). I just couldn't resist popping it in this post on GT's ;) :-X

oh... unless you were refering to the pic in my profile???. Yeah, that fish was caught in late '98 and the pic was published in Qld Fishing Monthly not long after.....

I find that when they are feeding on the surface they will take anything especially bludger trevally.

those videos are the best - man do those guys give the fish some grunt, lucky they don't break their line, rods or backs. Looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

maccamania - that is a monster GT. how much did it weigh?

Rick,

Which one?

The one caught the week before last on the soft plastic (the pic on page 1 of this post) was about 35kg (estimated), and the one in my profile was about 55-60kg (also estimated). Both estimates have been confirmed from various sources. And both were an absolute BUZZ

for some great pics of other MASSIVE GT's with weights and lengths given in the captions, go to www.gtfishing.com

They do charters specifically targeting BIG GT's

Macca Any chance you can shed some light on the type of popper you use.

I have had mixed success using halco roosta's
