i'm just chasing a bit of advice.
i have a turbo diesel nissan navara and want to know if its worth the expense of upgrading my boat trailer(springs, 4wd wheels and tyres etc) to tow up the beach from noosa. the boat is a plate 7m plus with a hard top and fully loaded weighs over 2500kgs (including trailer). OR am i best off leaving the trailer set up as is and travelling by road to carlo and camping there and taking the bar on?
any suggestions/tips/hints would be appreciated.

Carlo point, or Tin Can bay ?
Tin can bay is closer by road, and is only a few extra k's to the bar. Carlo Point is NOT secure.
Tin Can has the VMR at the ramp.
Not only do you have to pay $12 both ways on the barge, you have the added expense of cleaning ya 4 x 4 on return home. as well as having to adapt to the tides for travel, using the beach.
Also, A boat that size, you 'd probabl;y expect to have trouble traversing the Leisha Track over to DI. An extra vehicle would be needed to be sure.
Further, The ramp at Tin Can Bay has a tap, toilets etc.
For me, there is no question. But, if ya like roughing it, go the beach.

Simon,
I reckon Phil's got a point, I have heard stories about vehicles being broken into at Carlo and some left undrivable ( no wheels, literally.) Norman point has to much traffic for the scum to get a go at your rig. TCB is a great secure little spot, Coppers patrol Norman point a few times during the night and who knows how much during the day.
Cheers
James.
Hi All,
I put in at Carlo when I am at Rainbow Beach, and haven't had or heard of any probs with the scumbag factor there. Mind you this has only ever been during the day. However I have heard of issues with Bullock Point.
Have the problems at Carlo occured during the day?

Hi Mick,
That depends on how you see this. My mate arrives Carlo at 6.30am and returns 10.30am to find his Troopy with a smashed Quarter glass and the following items stolen; Engel fridge, Cd player + Cds, Snatch strap, Small toolbox + Tools, Overnight bag containing personal effects and clothing, and various other items. Bullock point is also particularly bad, as for which is worse I dont know. I cant justify leaving my rig at Carlo or Bullock for any amount of time. I reckon anyone who does is just waiting for a nasty shock. Like I already said Norman point has a high traffic flow and regular Police presence, thats a pretty good deterrent to the lowlife hunks of sh#t.
Cheers
James.
