Mackmauler, yeah, been told that your can do 100+ km's in a day no worries, so I definately won't be giving 2 shits about the greenhouse effect while I'm over there...

hi boxhead, i went fishin there about 9 yrs ago via ngukurr community, and i was amazed at the size of the cherabyn ( gigantic prawn) we were catching and using for barra bait, let alone the size of the barra we caught. unreal place mate, very large river system and plenty to explore. there were large nos of fish back then and i hope u get your fair share this trip. be good if you could get live bait like i said, we used a trap made out of one of those large white mayonnaise buckets with the entry on the lid.do you know someone there, or r u just goin off your own steam? not sure of how much is aboriginal land and if a permit is required to go there?anyway, good luck :)

Waznot, yeah got a local bloke coming with us. I was up in Katherine last year for three weeks and figured out those big prawns. The Barra love em. We are hoping to get down into the salt and take on some Black Jewies aswell. The only problem with the trip is the wife and kids are not invited.... Bugger...

A bloke pulled a nice 135cm barra out of the Roper the other day. Hope its fishing like that when you get up there. Good luck mate.
