Whitsundays and Qld Trip

Starting from the whitsundays and making ymway down to runaway bay for some fishing during a 1 week period. Ive heard the pilons near moreton are good for mackeral and cobia, just wondering where else should i stop at on the way down? ive been stocking up on fishing tackle and cant wait to get over there in the 1st week of december :D I was watching an old rock fishing video where these blokes were catching cobia, sharks were making a mess of them tho, which was a shame...hope i can catch a cobia, they looked like a great fishting fish... any tips on catchen em'?
