Hi all,

Planning on taking my 4 year old nephew and 6 year old niece fishing saturday morning in the Pine River in my brothers boat. We are planning to take the crab pots as by the reports on this site a few muddies have been caught. I have only fished the pine once and that was a few years back.

Do you have to go a fair way up the pine to have a chance of catching a muddie.

I also read in the fishing report in sunday paper that they have been catching squire in between Hornibrook bridge and Dohles rocks. Does this sound correct ?

Any advise would be much appreciated, I am just trying to find a spot where the kids have a chance of catching something (preferably not a catfish) as their enthusiam is likely to wain. The last time i took them fishing i managed to catch a few livies with my castnet although by the time i got to use them they were lets just say killed with kindness.

Cheers

Craig

I often fish the pine with my kids and they are about the same age as the ones you're about to take on. It aint no easy task, just take plenty for them to eat and drink and I would be getting hold of some live bloodworms and fishing the banks for whiting, with possible bycatch of bream or flathead. At least you will catch a few at this time of year but the size is often a problem. You have to keep things happening with younger kids or they go stir crazy in the space restrictions afforded by fishing from a boat.

Would like to know more about these wayward squire inside the Pine river though :-/

Good Luck, Cheers Kev

P.S. Will be keeping an eye on the reports page for your "PINE RIVER SNAPPER" report
