Are there any charts available that give good detail of the shelf off Moreton and Sunshine coast?
A lot is said about fishing the canyons on the shelf - any ideas?

The Canyons show up well on the C Maps and Navonics Cards in most plotters. Never seen a Blue Chart to compare. Main spots from north to south are Noosa Canyons, The Dog Leg off the Barwon Banks, Cape Moreton Canyons, The Kink on the 200 fathom line off the Gold Coast and the Tweed Canyons. The Tweed Canyons stretch to Byron. There are some local spots off the Gold Coast that don't show up on the charts like a sea mount in 800 fathoms and a couple of 30 fathom bumps on the 200 fathom line. All the other spots are good fishing spots and show up on the charts.

Hi Smithy,
Sounds like you certainly know your stuff.
My sounder wont do the job properly out there, so I will be working off the GPS.
Are the canyons marked as such on the maps, or do you have to interpret where they are off the contour lines?
The two of main interest to me will be the dogleg of the banks and the cape morton canyons.
Would you happen to have the coords for these two please?

Pete- both good places you have chosen there!! moreton canyons has some unreal drop offs right on the edge. If you come along to the meeting next week im sure owen will have some marks you could pinch for the general areas.

we have hooked quite a few blues inside the shelf..one we hooked in 177m well inside!!
