Welcome to the best fishing place in the world Mate!
Could I suggest that you do a Google search for things like:
Cairns Game Fishing
Cairns Reef Fishing
Cairns Estuary Fishing
There are squillions of charter operator in Cairns ranging from a pretty basic tinny after fish in the local river & creeks to the seriously big offshore boys who chase the Marlin.
If you like the thrill of hauling in Marlin for about $1,000 a day then that is fine but I reckon you would be very happy with the reef fishing (bottom bashing) that produces a brilliant variety of reef fish.
Chasing our top fighting fish - Barramundi and Mangrove Jack - in the creeks is a real thrill.
One thing you will find is that ANY charter operation is very expensive.
I just don't have it in me to fork out $500 a day to catch a Barra!
Maybe some of the guys here know of cheaper charters. good luck anyway and let Ausfish know the results (and pics)
