I do all my fishing around Bribie Island on Sunshine coast, I have come from country Victoria on the Murray River only fishing fresh water. I am slowly getting the hang of tides and salt water fishing in general, have found livies the go or fresh squid, I can through a cast net but find it hard to find good bait grounds, I know one spot at the lock at dolphin dr, but the Herring dont seem to be as good as mullet or live squid, any held in finding some good mullet schools or getting live bait would be great.
thank you Campaspe boy.

The shallows around the mainland side of the bridge while it is still dark is worth a go.

try off the bongaree jetty at night. walk down along the beach heading south me and my dad drag the net there and always get good amounts of squid and also hardy heads but there are alot of little fish that get stuck in the net.

mate walk west on the island from the main bridge about 400m, and just before the boat ramp (about 100m) you'll find a little artificial drain. miilions of poddies there from mid tide up. just jump the fence to get in. other than that, they school in summer near the main bridge - you can sight cast em sometimes because of the bridge lights. good luck.

Campaspe boy,
I guess you live somewhere close, you should join the Bribie Amatuer sportfishing club of which a relative of mine is the president. He tells me that the Spinnacher Sound boat ramp/ marina seems to always have a few prawns in it lately, and all the live bait you need. If you have a boat, isn't that where you launch from anyhow? If you are interested in the fishing club, I can get contact numbers.

I have almost always been able to cast net a few livies from the spinnaker marina while the boys put the boat in. Pre-dawn best. If boat ramp very busy then try just past marina outlet on left, for prawns & whiting in grassbeds. Usually a good start means a good trip. D.
