Hi all, i am about to move to Agnes Waters for a new job beginning in a few weeks. I am a keen SP fisherman and was wondering if anyone has any useful local knowledge for the area around Agnes Waters and 1770. I will not have a boat for about 2 months up there so any shore based fishing info would be much appreciated. Cheers

drop in and see Tony, Sandy or Josh at the local tackle shop, right hand side of the road on the way in to Angus and you get all the local info you need. They also stock whatever you will need.
cheers

What a great place to move to. I went there years ago and have a funny story to share. Where I camped at 1770 I saw a guy out in the water nearly chest deep trying to get his baits out as far as he could with the little inadequate rod he had. I turned up with a lovely Snyder Glas bream rod with an Alvey on it which seems to cast effortlessly so I was outcasting this guy without even getting my feet wet. I don't know what he was using for bait but my pillies were getting slammed by something huge and twice I had to rerig because I was busted off. Third time lucky I thought as I put on a bit of wire trace in hope to get whatever was busting me off and this time it paid off. Huge bite and off it went peeling large amounts of line. The battle went on for ages but I was slowly tiring the giant out and its runs seemed to be getting shorter and meanwhile this other disgruntled fisherman still chest deep in water was still giving it his best shot whilst looking on at the show I was providing. It was a late afternoon and after about 45mins I finally saw a bit of a fin breaking the surface of the water. Keen to get the fish in I started walking up the bank just a little whilst still winding convinced there was no more fight left in it and what my friend and I saw next surprised the both of us. I had done battle and won against a 3 metre bull shark but once we knew what it was I looked at this guy in chest deep of water and nearly wet myself laughing as I have never seen someone try getting out of the water as fast as he did. ;D ;D

Mate I love it out there and am almost green with envy that you are moving there. The fishing is great! Have fun and make sure you post your reports. ;)

It's too windy up there! ::)

I agree with Blaze, Talk to Tony/Sandy/Josh at the tackle shop. They will sort you out.

Landlubber from this site also seemed to do pretty well up there. You could have a chat with him
