Hi all,

took the kids for a swim in the Talle Creek ont he gold coast on sunday as it was hot and its a great place for a swim with young ones.

Anyway i decided to swim accross the creek with some googles on jsut for the fun of it, and to my amazement saw dozens and dozens of juvenile flathead around the 10 cm mark. They were in the shallows, i counted 7 just sitting in one spot in about 40 cms of water.

Looks like the future is good for flatties down that way.

On another note, thumbs down to the fishos who cought some tailor and decided to throw the frames into the creek about 7 of them.. not a great idea in a swimming area.

Cheers

Dan

It is great to hear isn't it, nice to see that the 70cm max is starting to show a real sign of improving the population as a whole. Well done to the DPI on this particular issue, if only they may reassess a few other situations as they have here.

I think more fish should have a max limit , maybe that will change when they see how it improves the amount of flathead around . I caught three small flat head over the weekend between 15 and 20 cm (a bit disapointed there were no big ones around).

I'm goin out and every sesh I get about 10 juveniles up to 30-35cm. Only the odd one comes in legal. I found the best fishing around winter.
But you are right. It is always very encouraging to see the little tackers getting around. The odd larger lizard caught makes up for it at the end of the day.
