looking for some ideas on which are the better quality sounders, as i am in the market for my first one . Any advice would be fantastic

Furuno/Koden/JRC.....just my opinion.

I have always use Furuno sounders and they have done me good service. They seem to be pretty good value for money, too. Once again, just my opinion, though.

I have a Garmin FF320C colour and am very happy with it. Absolutely brilliant viewing in direct sunlight with polarized glasses on too.

For value for money and top quality. You can't go past the NAVMAN 4500. If you don't have one, GET ONE. :)

If you want to see what a navman 4380 is like have a look at the the heading Navman 4350/4380 i have some screen photo's of my unit.Happy with it!
