im currently looking for new sounder and have been looking at two models in particular, the garmin ff250 and the hummingbird matrix 25. The question i'm putting out there is what impact will the differing screen resolutions have on my personal fishing situations... the garmin is 320x320 while the matrix is 240x240. Although the screen resolution on the matrix is not quite as good, i like some of the other features it offers over the garmin. I fish mainly in the rivers and some of the closer offshore reefs and never really over 200ft. Is it worth worrying about the difference in screen res for these situations?

Mate the resolution makes all the difference! The higher you can get the better.
All the extra features wont help you if you cant see the detail!

Vetical pixels is what matters.
The Matrix 25 has been superceded by the Matrix 27 some time back. The pixels on the Matrix 27 are 640 vertical by 320 horizontal. Sell for around $550 - $580

Another option would be the Humminbird FF 565. Has the high res 640 x 320 pixel screen, but you can't attach all the other stuff that you can with a Matrix 27. The 565 sells around $540, so if you can afford it go the Matrix.
