I am looking at cranking out a bit of ACDC and Pink floyd whilst out fishing.
Looking for the good and bad of what people are using.
Currently I have a portable radio CD player I found at tthe tip. I wire direct to the battery pack. Only problem is the CD doesnt work, maybe that is why it was at the tip. ;D ;D ;D ;D

or for half the cost you can get a GME copy from sound works (supercheap brand) i got mine when it was hald price so only cost me $150 as to the normal $300
it has cd player tuner with remote and plays all the mp3 winmedia files
not a bad price but i will still get the splash face cover as it is pretty open to the elements

Hey Al, can give you a great price on the install of two 12"Subs, 3 amps, heaps of neon lights. I like nothing better then cutting holes in someone elses boat. lol ;D

You get what you pay for when it comes to Marine CD players. Clarion makes some good marine units but won't be cheaply priced!

The older GMEs were not that waterproof, even with the splashproof front - just ask Motty our local guide. He had warranty issues with them - say no more. I have a current one with MP3 in my tinny and so far so good. MP3 is great for boats - means less CDs needed when waterproof space is always at a premium. We are running a Supercheap on in our 702 and so far so good with it as well. Only problem with the Supercheap one is the display backlight is pretty faint and pretty hard to see in the daylight. If you have a waterproof spot just try a cheapy and keep replacing them althought the GMEs seem to come down to about $235 or $239 or whatever it is at boat show time.

I am looking at the GME GR968 for $299 at BCF
A bloke is selling them on EBAY for $299 plus $15 postage with 2 speakers SPW602 thrown in for free.
I would use the VHF arial with the band splitter for between 29 to 59 dollars depending on brand.
The Kenwood one looks good, maybe a bi more than my plan.

Al - I got a Bargain Boat Bits cattledog here and on page 3 they have a special on for the GME - GR968 for $299 which includes 2 x SPKW602 100w flush mount speakers :o
If u r in Tsv then the closest agent listed is Tully Boating and Mower centre - might be worth a look.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't Rising Sun operating under the same banner? Are they no longer associated ?

Nonibbles - not sure mate could be. I was just looking at the names on the back of the catologue and there was only a Mackay dealer or one in Cairns :-?

This is now urgent, the TIP radio died on the weekend.
We were ripping in the fish with the music pumping, then silence and no fish.

Al,
I've got a GME thats ok.
Dicko,
You can come and sing for me mate. It won't cause me to catch any less fish, might even improve my catch rate. If you get out of tune, we'll all have more beers until you sound just right.
Cheers
When is someone going to design players and radios to use a memory sticks loaded with 20 cd's without worrying about cd players in a miniature way with small watrproof speakers simply for the boating fraternity//// ;D
needn't be any bigger then a cig pack and no moving parts so there lol
