Most caravan fridges work off gas/12V/240V.

I think the traditional caravan fridge works on what is called the absorption principle. This works as a heat exchanger where the heat source is either a gas flame, 12 or 240V heating element. It isn't a compressor.
I don't think the high performance caravan fridges run on gas as they do have a compressor.

Sorry mate, I'm not aware of any gas operated compressor fridge.
Send a pm to member czopen, I have a feeling he is a refrigeration engineer and I am sure he will advise you.
Cheers
Frank
no such beast exists,
completely different types of refrigerant required.
But if you ever find one, give me a ring.

maybe the LPG runs a little combustion engine that runs the compressor.
I've seen little gas powered generators on ebay.
Maybe not also. :-/
There was a bloke in Lismore in the 80's or 90's that had a petrol powered fridge/freezer that also ran on 240. It was home made and had an old cool room compressor with a pulley on it, just like a car A/C compressor and a 4hp 4 stroke Briggs and Stratton on it for camping and a 240v motor when power is available.

Hi pojo,
When there is a will there is a way.
I do not know if any commercially available systems like that are distributed but there are a few solutions possible.
But first question is what do you want to do with such fridge?
And what size you want?
Where and how do you want to use it?

yeah mate most camping stores will have them. I personally have used a 3 way Fridge/Freezer. Its a blue RC1180 ChesCold model. Gas, 240 and 12 volts. Awesome on gas and 240 volts. A 9 kilo gas bottle will last you just under a month as long the the unit is level. Hope this helps. Usually sell for around $1100 i think. Roddy

Hi Rodbender,
Does your chescold work ok in the boat. Do you run it on gas ? What about the naked flame issue.
I have one myself and it is great, however it really needs to be level all the time otherwise it wont work.
