Just got back from a quick trip with the family and started cleaning the boat when a mate droped in and tells me I am mad for cleaning my sounder and plotter then spraying them with inox???? :-/

I have been doing it for years (not the screen though) and never had a problem :o

So does anyone else do this or am I off the mark? :o

I even spray the rods and reels with the stuff.

Not the sort of thing I use but plenty of people use it with no illeffect.I used WD 40 once on a 27 meg radio and it shorted out, probably my fault for turning it on to soon after spraying.I definately wouldn't be useing it on my reels, the stuff has a tendency of getting right in and breaking down the grease and oils the residue that is left after a short time has no lubricating or corrosion protection at all,the best thing you can do for your reels and rods is rinse them under a gentle running warm shower, useing cold water simply pushes the salt around and useing to much pressure pushes the salt into the reel, useing soap has much the same effect as the WD in that it breaks down the lubes.

I sprayed mine with Inox or wd40 - the oil penetrated into teh waterproof seal and and leaves a mark ( oil bubble) on the screen

A little on the contacts if you have to - but leave the body alone!
