Hi all,
Somewhere down the track I would like to fit an electric to my boat. It seems choosing which one could be the easy part, but he battery is the most important. I am leaning towards the Minn Kota Rip Tide 55lb Bow Mount with he foot control. What battery should I be looking at apart from being deep cycle, to suit this motor best? Thank you for any help.

You're looking at aound .75 of an amp per pound of thrust you're using with them, so i'd be looking at a 120 amp hr or a 130 amp hr battery. I run a couple of 120's on my 24 volt 70 lb on my 5 mtr rig and it'll do for a full day on the dams moving around steady or holding in the wind. BUT - If you're going to spend a bit of time working electric only dams, you might need 2 batteries on a long day. What area are you in?

i use trogan batteries and they are brilliant ,harry said you might need two and if you are heavy on the peddle yes the safety factor is great,i have a 24v 74lb thrust minn kota and it will last two days of good running no worries with heaps left. 120amp is also.

I run a Motorguide 54pd and have it connected to a 130amp trojan sealed battery.

Cheers.
