After some very enlightening advice from many Ausfishers I went out and bought my Garmin GPS 72.
Still learning some of the finer points, but must say I am extremely happy with it. Thanks to all those who provided advice.
I do however have one query that has me a tad puzzled..... I cannot get the backlight to operate!
I have read the manual and worked out that the backlight has various settings you can use ie on all the time, 15 seconds, 30 seconds etc, etc. Thats all fine, but the problem is I cannot get the light to turn on.
Have I missed something obvious that activates it or is it just non operational in which case I will return it under warranty and have it replaced.
Any GPS 72 users out there that could offer me assistance would be more than welcomed.

Cheers

Press the off button dont hold it down then you will see a light symbol on the screen use the nav pad and hit up. Watch it though it chews the batt when the light is on.
