:-/ :-/ Hi all, got a mate thats got a marinetek seamax and is having trouble with his coordinates.
He hasnt got a manual for it so first question is would anyone have one they could copy or loan out. If not, we have narrowed the trouble down to the formatting of the coordinates or what the machine is set to read. It is putting him about 700mtrs out. We can't work out how to change the formatting on the machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't find a downloadable manual, so maybe the above address can solve a problem for ya !!!!!

Ask for a PDF manual to be emailed to you, then you can access it via Adobe Reader.

OR, scroll through the menu on the unit and try to find, setup or initalize. Bascially you have to re-boot the thing in WGS 84 Datum. But, this is only speculation on my part. I know on the Furuno's you hold down the two top buttons on the keypad, when pressing the on/ off button. That will bring up the Menu page including the " simulation " area. THis is where the changes can be made from.

Hope any of my drivel helps.

OH, before I forget.

This info was gleaned from Marinetex :-

SeaMax provides an interactive manual on the screen for your convenience. You may browse through the display screens (pages) as you would read a book. This HELP feature has the advantage of contextual reference concerning the current activity.

Thanks Phill,
We have tried various things but its a bit difficult without the manual. Ive tried to use my lowrance one and get some ideas but the best we come up with is a difference with degrees, minutes and thousands of a minute or degrees, minutes and tenths of a second. this seems to be the key, hopefully. The marinetek seems to be reading in say 38 40.48 but his coordinates are in
say 38 40 48, which could be 38 40.48 or 38 40 48.0 for example. If you get my drift, sorry not very good at this. But helps for your insight.

Yep that will be the problem, if they are in degrees/minutes/seconds or degrees/minutes. If you ever have numbers with the last two numbers greater than 59 or three numbers greater than 599 it is safe to assume they are degrees/minutes. What format is your Marinetek in now?

Apparently :-? when he turns his unit on he gets a page with about 6 different headings such as set up, calibrate, etc then he goes to what ever page he needs but the help page dosen't seem to help to much, He can work out the sounder because there pretty straight forward and if he hits a waypoint it will take him straight back there but if he puts in a coordinate its about 700 mtrs east and 15 mtrs south out. :-/
Now the manual you have he has one that starts at page 70 or something is that like yours?? It refers to different chapters that seems to be the parts we need.
One more thing he has checked the coordinates in his driveway against a hand held and it gave different readings.
