What is the opinion of folks on here about these units. I fish mainly Bay and estuary with an occasional trip offshore (max depth about 100M) Is it worth the extra dollars to go up to the Furuno 620 for the type of fishing I do mainly bottom bashing but hope to hit the pelagics from here on as well.
Thanks

I take the thunderous silence to mean that nobody thinks a great deal of these machines

Mate,

I've had mine for over a year now and used it from Moreton and Hervey Bays to offshore and the Whitsundays too. Good little unit for the price I paid. Take a look in sounder readings thread bout page 12 or 13 and there's some more 'live' pics of mine at work.

Cheers,
Tony 8-)

Top unit!!
I have one in my tinny and my mate has one in his offshore boat. We find they work great at high speed, easy as to use, good back up service.

the x107 is one of the best df sounders on the market for ease of use and sensitivity , which will find you fish but if you have a few extra dollars the Furuno 620 is 100 watts more power (which will not matter in the depth of water you are fishing) then the lowrance and it also is a digital unit and that means you will not get any surface clutter and the unit is powerfull enough to run a 1kw transducer if you ever get the urge to find fish deep,a 1kw is around over 50 time more sensitive then the 600 watt one that comes standard with the 620l.These new units are also very easy to use unlike the older Furuno units,go have a play with them both and the right answer to your question will be in front of you, thanks regards onlyme

Are the returns due to power spikes? I had a bit of trouble with mine when I first got it, but it was due to surges caused by my motor. Lowrance still replaced the unit, no questions asked. Great back-up service for any probs, unlike other brands that I shall not mention.

3 of the 4 units turned themselves on at all hours of the day and night , much to the dismay of my neighbours and the other time it just crapped out on me .......but you are right ,the backup service is great ...all units have been replaced with a new one arch

Ok off to the shop I go and have a play it seems it is more a case of which one feels comfortable to the user then one being that much better than the other for my application thanks for the feed back folks 8-) Tight lines all round for ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Very good units; infact, I've taken mine oout of the boat I'm selling so I can put it in the new one. As with everything Lowrance, they are very menu-driven, but, once you get used to that, they are quite easy to use and they work very well. I fish in Moreton Bay and Offshore and found they work well in all my fishing capers. I got mine when they first came out and haven't had a drama (touch wood).

Cheers,
NICK.
