HEY FATTY
I just spent a whole week at burrum heads got back last week. im not a local there yet but i travel there 3-4 times a year and the fishing is great.sorry cant tell you any thing about the outside fishing but the river fishing with your 12' punt will be perfect.get a local map or some local knowledge as there are plenty of sand bars up the river and plenty of BIG crabs. if you have time to catch some prawns go to howard 15 min away which has a pretty new boat ramp and just start casting up the river near the rail bridge.
now back to burrum heads... to my knowledge there are two boat ramps .the main one is next to a caravan park and it can handle the 18' stacer just need a deckie to hold on to it with the out going tide (hey i will be back there in september)... just the fishing off the boat ramp is great i caught my first queen fish there and have seen plenty of flatheads bream and prawns caught in the area .most important burrum has one pup one bowling club and both have courtsey busses hope this helps se ya in september
go to google and look up burrum heads there is a map of the area

Hi Fatty
Where about in burrum are you staying van park or holiday house? done both and we prefer the house option.
Pub puts on a good feed, ross st boat ramp is good and so is the other ramp can't think of the street name end of ramp drops off into deep water.
Any wind with northly in it will make both ramps impossable to use, whiting, bream and flathead are the main catch, plenty of nice sand banks to run up if your not careful, you can pump yabbies upstream, just ask the locals that hang around the ramp they will tell you where most things are and whats coming in. head out of the river and on the right are large sea grass beds try drifting across there, just watch out for the turtles and dugongs. i have not done it but if you head left from the mouth there is a reef off of woodgate beach

hey fatty
prolly september should see some mackerel out the front of burrum.there are a couple of spoil grounds out the front the most common one is the 8 mile and there is an artificial reef around in front of woodgate.
i take my 17ft up there and if its windy i still fish the river in it.ive caught the my best fish in the front 2 mile of the river any way.as len said the boat ramp is a top spot ::and the bank over the other side called the ''BLACK BANK'' is very fishy.
ive got a few marks ill drag out for ya if you are going outside and you can buy a list at the shop that will put you in the area.
cheers scott

The Brisbane Sportfishing Club is going to Burrum Hds in May for a few days. I haven't been there before, so in addition to the above, I'd appreciate some pointers on spots for jacks, threadfin, queenfish in the lower reaches. Any marks for outside would also be helpful. Also, where are some good areas to throw the castnet for prawns and other live bait?
I'll be sure to post a report when we get back, so maybe I can be of some use to you then Fatty.
