Would be interested particularly if it is closer to Mackay
Base at the black stump van park at Conway Beach. You can fish prossy river, repulse bay, the inlet, repulse creek and Thompsons all from the one spot. Barra fishing in river is usually excellent but weather early Feb is dodgey, better in late march....whatever. I'm a chance

sexellent KC
Suggestions and ideas taken upon board, (and loving it).
Would organising something over the Easter weekend be a long shot?
Just checked the tides.....THE best weekend for Prossy river is 8th & 9th April....it WILL go off.

Looks like I will be in Mackay around the week of Feb 13th... Will confirm dates when I know...
So far it seems Mick will be involved with beer drinking with me, and possability of a dive/fish as well.
Hopefully, one of the companies I deal with will let me stay at their hotel at the Mackay Marina again! ;) (Gotta love it there!)

Not committing at this time but it sounds like a good idea.
I guess the best location would be a position a little nearer to halfway between Airlie and MAckay.

Brett,
Yeap, whilst also keeping in mind, fishing locations and accommodation :).....with also the thought of grabbing possible interest from ppl further nth (Townsville).
Thank you for expression of interest.
Fishin_Dan,
Thumps and I spent our wedding night at the Clarion on the Mackay Marina, fantastic place to stay, I did however thought to myself that seeing some of those boats just sitting there, unused, a little bit of a waste, certainly when you can see the fish schools

if the wheather is good and I am available I will be there
what about seaforth 5 creeks, 7 islands within 2 miles and the smith group for anyone wanting to go out and it does not really matter what the wheather is as long as it is under 20kn, lots of camping grounds and a motel thats not dear.

I hope you areplanning it for better wheather than this week :'(

Yeah you can count me in too at this stage.
Seaforth could be an alright place but if you are planning it for any peak period (eg. easter) then forget it unless you want to get there a week early to set up your tent.
The seaforth area could be good though as it offers a lot of options for a wide range of fishing.
Anyway, we'll see what happens but at this stage count me in..

count me in juicyfruit will be in touch :)
Other than Easter I'm a chance and not only do the best crabs come out of Repulse Bay....so do the best barra/King Salmon/Grunter/Blue Salmon.
Great option as if it is calm the cape and islands can be easily "got at "for Black Jew, Mackrel and reef fish & if its "blowin' its tits off" you can still fish Prossy river the the creeks. Conway has basic accom at the van park, cabins and camp sites (already booked for Easter), and then...worse come to worst...there is always Airlie Beach...where you can always pick up the odd "deck hand"....as long as you can speak swedish!!
Suggested itinerary.
Arrive Friday night....set up camp and have a famil in Airlie.....bed by..say 4am.
Fish Saturday from 6am....10 am for those who REALLY enjoyed the "famil"
Saturday night...Chilli Crab Night...I'll cook
Sunday...who cares, followed by ANOTHER famil of Airlie...just to practise your forgien laungage skills............swahilli is fine after 10pm.
Monday.........I REALLY hate Monday's.
The definition of GAMEFISHING.............telling your missus you are going fishing with your mates in Airlie Beach!.......on her birthday.
The definition of TACKLE.........what your wife does to you as you walk out the door when she has just learnt you are going fishing with your mates to Airlie Beach.
CU soon

Here you go, a map of Seaforth, as was a suggested venue.
http://www.fishingline.com.au/Queensland/Mackay/Fishing/Seaforth.htm
There is 8 acres of camping grounds, a bowling club and 2 stores. Kinchant dam is 40 minutes drive and Prossy dam is 1.50 hour's drive. The Newry Islands are all National Parks and safe boating.

And it’s all near my beloved Murray Creek.
In my opinion, the interest has been good.
Easter Weekend, though a time traditionally set aside for camping and fishing, it appears that some of us can't make it around this time, also, everyone man and his dog has the same idea and accommodation is a little thin.....(not to mention, that in my experience of camping Easter weekend, from when I was a kid till now, it has rain 9 time out of 10).
So which weekend shall it be? (Need time to put the ‘time off’ request to boss and also work out if daughter, “The Boss” is with the “sperm donor” (her father and my ex).

Using WTides to try and find the best dates and tides to fish with-in/on dates and location mentioned. In the Seaforth area, it gives Scawfell and St Bees Islands as graphical markers/readings. Which would be the better one to go by?
Not sure if I worded my question correctly.

lol, affraid not, but did think of an alternative plan if weather is on the bad side of things.
We could hit Kinchant or PF Dams. Even if its not great Barra fishing on the Dams, weather wise, at least we are on the water and safe from what the ocean would throw at us. *shrug*

Krazy,
Mind if I hand this all over to you?
Seems to me that the best weekend is 11th/12th and the location will be Seaforth.
Apart from you, I haven't heard a 'aye' or 'nay' from anyone else that has posted in this thread, so if you could be so kind as to follow them up.
Could you also make the announcement post and have it placed in the 'important topic’ under ‘general chat’.
Thank you
