This is what makes flyreels scream.
The result of casting into much froth and foam off Kingfisher Bay Jetty, Fraser Island. Casting was no problem- the boil was less than 1m away from the jetty in 2-3m of water. Hooking up was simple, I just fired off a cast and hung on. However, landing this one was a real drama. I didn't know what I had hooked- because I didn't see the fish take the fly. The otherwise glassy water was like a washing machine with who-knows-what terminating countless baitfish- so it was anybody's guess as to what I had hooked. I guessed tuna as the first bit of backing rocketed through the runners seconds later and the leader arced out wide. Too wide for my liking- right towards the yacht "Blue Dolphin" moored hard up against the jetty. There was nothing else to do but to swim around the yacht so that's what I did. I landed the fish from the docking platform a little while later.
