From my understanding of fishing for Giant Northern Bluefin Tuna of the NE coast of North America they do a lot of chunking. Chunking is what we call berleying but they use electric berley dispenses for the small bits and the oil then actually use large chunks of bait, probably stuff like Bluefish (what we call Tailor or the South Africans call, I think, Elf).
Anyone seen the American pay TV series "Fishing with John" featuring John Lurie of the Lounge Lizards and other celebrities like Dennis Hopper, Willem Dafoe, Matt Dillon etc., etc.? In that they don't fish for Tuna but they do fish for sharks and go out and catch good numbers of big Bluefish for bait then chunk them on the NE coast.

Put one of them on as a livey the other day;
blah blah, pull, toss ... ::)
Guess they didn't make rod tips too good in those days; seems to have lost his.
Guess they aren't making those sort of fish any more.
:'(
Cheers
Jeff
