Just a little one caught in a freshwater creek. Only small but still great fun on surface lures.

Forgot to mention that we were fishing with worms for spangled pearch to use for barra live baits. My mate tied a small floating stick that was about 4cm long to his line to act as a float. The stick was just floating on the surface about a metre from where we were sitting when it got smashed by a tarpon. We tied on some poppers had a ball for about an hour getting smashed by these tarpon. We only ended up catching about two each as they are very hard to stay connected with.

Cheers

heres on from Weipa I find them a bit hard to specificly target in SEQ due to the fact that there is so much good fishing to be do/ne when their around ,there was a big school just rolling on the surface , there was about four of us getting a cast a fish for a bout 20 mins al horses and som giant herring in amongst them as well , it was pretty Tuff would have much rathered to be at work

heres what we were getting them on a white clouser I guess you would use a white bucktail jig on coventional gear , we kept these fish to give to Lumpy .Lumpy is a volkswagon sized groper that hangs around the mother ship we stayed on in the Jackson River he loves Tarpon , and what a hole in the water phwar :o

Hi fish outa water. Whats the fishing in trinidad like? I have a couple of mates who are from there and I am thinking about visiting them sometime in the future. Is it mainly big game fishing that they do over there?

Cheers

hey scottym :)
fishing there is insane , have been a couple of times now , usually stay on tobago as its cheaper and safer ;)
loads of offshore fishing but theres plenty onshore too , but you wont find the 100lbers in the drainage canals :(
over all though mate i think your living in the promised land when it comes to fishing , thats why im headed your way this winter
let me know if you head over and ill try and dig out some phone numbers, i warn you now though trinidad is rapidly becoming the kidnap capital of the caribean :'(
incidently is worth a trip just to see locals take marlin, shark , tuna and big wahoo (upto 170llb)on handlines :o , and i mean hand line not those fancy things with handles . i mean a plastic bottle ;D
