I thought there was a warning sign about them at the boat ramp at colleges crossing??
Nice fish Angus, i work at a business on the river with our own (well one of the biggest moorings on the river) its near kangaroo point, do you kow of anything being caught this far down?
I have heard the talk about squire under the bridge etc.. But no one here has caught anything in the past.
Cheers

I work up at the wharf at fishermans Island and when it`s quiet we usually sneak a line in straight over the side and have caught all sorts of specimens including squire and snapper ( I think five and six kilo is about the best ),cod ;one got caught in a crabpot ( got his head stuck in the opening) and it went thirty kilo, grunter or javelin fish ,gummy sharks , plenty of vermin catties and rays etc and have come back on plenty of occasions to find 80kg line snapped .also some good muddies and prawns aplenty when the time is right. this pic is of a salmon caught when we worked up the hamilton wharf. when cast netting of the hamilton wharf I got about fifteen dory some of which were the biggest ones I`ve seen and a couple of baby GT`s. I think the river is really coming back to life over the last couple of years!

Too many Salmon to poke a rod at. I'm guessing you don't mean Shovel Nose Fish_gutz? I'm assuming you'd know what they are? Hmm I'm stuck for answers if not a Shovelie.
Troy
This is a pic of the last decent sized Salmon we pulled from the river. (It's the same Salmon from Bris_Vegas' second picture.

Yeah Troy been meaning to get back to the salmon spot not only do they go hard ,they chew good aswell ; the sharks I`m talking about (If I remember correctly from previous reports) is a tawny shark? but can`t seem to find any info on it. and no it`s not a shovelnose but just remember reading a post and someone replying that they were tawny sharks and not too flash to eat.
Sunday night got snapped of twice, kept one 42cm squire on sunset but when the sun dissapeared the vermin moved in and got two of the said sharks , a stigray that was impossible to pull out of the water and some huge catties so when they move in it`s time to pack up. Tide has little or no effect when fishing the wharf what does matter is sunrise and sunset.
Just found it!! if you can be bothered do a google on tawny shark and hit I`m feeling lucky and you`ll see a pic of one, well it`s the closest I can find but it`s habitat shows further up north than Brissy but so does the salmon!
Cheers Andrew.

Yeah, that looks very much like a Cat Shark. Probably just a different name. They are quite common in the Bay at times. But you said they are similar to those? Not identical? Maybe it's a Wobbegong? :-? .
