how does the chat work?

hey Lads,
I have tried to get into the chat icon i take it that it is something like yahoo chat? i have the java thing but for some reason it fails when loading chat can anyone help???

it does take a few minites to load if you have dial-up .
i think from memery the first time i hooked up had to down load something. i think. try and wait a bit longer.
or go to live chat help on the main page.
