Yeah it's a sad day when someone from this site decides to join another site and stir the pot under the name of a present member of Ausfish and sign off with that member's name. Yep, it is happening to me. And despite following protocol there has been no response. This is a wonderful site, and it is sad that some people would stoop so low. Poor silly buggers are to be pitied I guess.

Cheers
Dave and Sue

Not a lot of information you have given could you elaborate and possibly give a link to the post you are referring to?
If this is the case surely Steve Brown would be able to sort it out for you.

We have PM'd Ausfish administrators but to date there has been no response. At this stage I am not prepared to provide any links or names. Those out there who are playing childish silly games and who want to lurk in the shadows know who they are. The law thankfully has a habit of taking such cowards to task.

Nothing I can do about it. It is happening on another site. Someone has joined the other site using the same name as someone uses here and from what I gather is causing problems on that site. No one has a monopoly on a member name so they are not doing anything wrong as far as that goes. But from what I gather they are causing trouble on that site. I am sure people would know that it isn't the same person that uses that memebrname here. I have only received this info second hand and not from the site owner. Hopefuly get some more info from the site owner but no dought they realise that there isn't anything I can do about it.

Dave and Sue,

I struggle to believe that there is still people in this world that take things to heart and are just straight up A$$holes.

I take it this is from previous communications on this website ?

Childish, immature and mindless. We know you call a spade a spade as I do, and I believe that is a good thing.

If there are some that can not handle the subjective criticism of others they should not partake in FORUMS where people are encouraged to have a say.

Justice will prevail, chin up friends

Hi Dave & Sue,

I'm a little confused as to why somebody would want to do something like this? As far as you know, have you upset somebody with a post or something? From my recollections, I don't think any of your posts have been nasty or personal towards another Ausfish member.

Is it possible to access the personal details of the person using your member name on the other site? This sort of stuff isn't good and if possible, should be stopped ASAP.

Hang in there,

I have spoken to the owner of the other site, in fact it was he who alerted me to the going's on. The culprit is using the name of "Reel Nauti" and signing his posts off as "Dave". >:( The owner of the site has deleted this particular member and I am grateful for that. I have not been able to access any details of the person involved. I understand well the privacy laws etc. I brought it to Steve's attention on the off chance that if the person's email address is the same as a present member of Ausfish that perhaps some word of caution or warning could be sent. However, I understand Steve's position on this too in regard to privacy restrictions and regulations. I started this thread as a warning to others that perhaps now or maybe even in the future, other members may fall prey to these dimwits. It will take much more than some childish coward to cause me grief, I just wanted others to be aware. ;)Thanks for your support and encouragement. Sue and I do appreciate it! :)

Cheers and thanks
Dave :)

Looks like we all need to join other forums if we want to reserve our user names on those sites. NIce to see common sense prevailed.

You do have a pretty good handle....... I wish Id thought of it...

It is easy for the law to track an internet user. Some people think that it all belongs up there in cyberspace. But cyberspace begins on Earth and ends on Earth. Origins and endings are easy to find. I can take a joke as well as the next guy, but I will not tolerate someone posing as me to stir up shit elsewhere. Gutless cowards who can expect a knock on the door from the boys in blue.

As a taxpayer I would hope that the "boys in blue" are conducting more important duties than chasing internet imposters with your copyright nick :'( :'( :'( :'(

Maybe Jerry Springer could do a story on this hideous crime :o

You have to protect your good name Dave and can understand where you're coming from particularly if it implies a detrimental view of yourself.
Regular users would pick differences in outlook fortunately.
