I know what your saying,I've followed the instructions in the help section with that Irfan thing and the young fella has tried ,they always stay the same kb's,some times I can down size them in the camera but this rarely works they nearly always end up just over the 100 kb.

Hi ,
Not the way that the posters here use,
but if you right click on the picture
then email the picture to yourself
it will ask if you want to make picture smaller(yes)
send email
when the email arrives store picture in 'My Pictures.
This will then be small enough to post on forum.

When you want to post ,select BROWSE and select picture to post.
Regards

I usually open a file using 'paint' a windows program.
After you resize it, then save it as a .jpeg file and it's often much smaller...just crop the bits ya don't want
find 'paint' by clicking 'start' then 'programs' then 'accessories' then 'paint'
open the program then choose 'file' then 'open' then find the file youi ant to change
Is that how others do it?

If you are using Windows XP, you can download and use this little tool from Microsoft. It's called Image Resizer and you just have to right-hand click on the photo in windows explorer and choose "Resize picture", then choose the size you want. Usually the medium setting gets even large photos under the 100k mark for you.

Check it out - you can download it from this page - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

It is probably the simplest way of doing it and i think it is just what Outlook does for you but in a separate tool that integrates itself into windows explorer.

hope this helps..

Thanks Richard,That was simple enough for someone as computer illiterate as my self to do and seems to have done the trick.

Yeah it is pretty easy isn't it. It's free from Microsoft and why they don't include as part of the operating system I don't know because it's such a handy little addition to the windows explorer.

And with the increase in popularity of digital cameras heaps of people would use it.

Glad you found it useful...
