What do you believe you achieve in becoming a silver member west?
The ability to set your next goal, of becoming a gold member?
Or the belief in, that the more posts you have made, the more you will be taken seriously/have more credibility?
THIS IS NOT A SH!TSTIR

*shrug*
Read some of your posts, you have a certain amount of credibility...... I don't need to know it took you "x" amount of posts to have some.
Basically, credibility is in the words, not the numbers.
There is no such thing as an expert fisherman, he may be knowledgeable in certain areas (there are too many fish and too many ways to fish to know it all and be an expert in it).
One of the sad thing I have seen due to "number posting" (and keep seeing) is that good advice from a new members being non-received or acknowledge, to then have a 'higher posting' member rephrasing the same response and then have all the accolades.
I'm sure that post amounts serves a purpose on a moderators level.
Let it not serve the purpose for us and how we judge or receive a person and their expertise, or how it may make us act in trying to receive more post numbers.

If it’s not seen as dobbing, cause members being punished or such members being too closely monitored in the future....
......then I will gladly point you in the right direction via IM.
With that said, I do understand the large amount of postings that you have to read and sort through; hence, I’m assuming, why the assistance in being directed to such postings.
I hope I haven't stepped on your toes in anyway with my observations, or worse, spoken out of turn. …..(yeah I know, should have kept my mouth shut and kept on monitoring myself, monitoring others is not my job).
Please don’t take what I’ve said as a personal attack or a general attack of this site, because on the whole, it serves its purpose well and I, like others have used it for its purpose.
My key issue was, and still is, that credibility is gained through words, not the number of postings.

Have watched the comings and goings (deleted posts) on this thread with smiles and grins since it started. I guess someone has to answer goin_west's original question that started it all. Mate the following are the post rankings for Ausfish.
Ausfish Member - 0 to 29 posts
Ausfish Bronze Member - 30 to 249 posts
Ausfish Silver Member - 250 to 499 posts
Ausfish Gold Member - 500 to 999 posts
Ausfish Platinum Member - 1000 + posts
Cheers

What purpose dose the post count serve apart from a p!ss!ng contest of sorts?I agree with Juicyfruit, what's said is far more important than how many times it's said.

Any yabb board etc is set up with post counts on them.
