:-/
After looking everywhere for a post I then assumed it had been deleted.
Rather than deleted posts vanishing into cyber space why can't the thread title be left and in brackets beside it have something like...
Deleated, see existing thread or Deleated, foul languge ect.
In the same way as put next to a thread that has been moved.

The same also for deleated posts in having the post deleated and inserting something like...
Deleated, off topic or Deleated, trolling, racist, personal attack ect.
In this instance the current trend of aggressive posts are at least showing that poster and others why their posts are being deleated.

Just a suggestion and not a criticism.

Hoges,
as a moderator I delete posts on a regular basis, and for many reasons.

If I do delete a post , I pm the originator and explain why.

There is a " bin " that moderators and the Administrator can access for this purpose.

If a post gets deleted for Racist, Sexist or Obscene reasons, I do not explain it, I believe it would be bleeding obvious why such a post was removed.

All moderators try to keep up with the " bad apples " in reagrd to threads and posts, but we need the assistance of the general " Ausfishers. A pm to us will help track down posts etc that are not suitable for a ' general public " site, such as this one, that has many children and women viewing it.

We ( I ) encourage all who have a beef with any other ausfisher to do your corrospondence via a pm. This is not a place to jump on the soap box and denegrate others in any way. By all means express your point of view and back it up if necessary with facts.

So, for now, you will only see posts " moved " .

In any case, thanks for the question and thought.

Cheers Phill

Not to those who haven't read the post, but I don't know how that can be resolved. We just have to trust the moderators that if a post is deemed unfit for *general* viewing, then that is rightly the case and hope it is a "one off" from that poster. The problem with that though, is that we don't get to know how *offensive* that poster has been if we haven't seen the post. This then detracts from how we can/should view/trust (in the future) any further responses from that poster.

OK, I'm just a nosey bastard that likes to know what's going on and who I can, or can not trust ;D

The Moderators do a great job on this site and this is why it is such a good site. They can not read every post, so if you think someone is being agressive in a post all you have to do is PM me or one of the Mods with the URL of the post and point out the post in question and it will get looked into.

As far as pointing out why a post has been deleted, the Mods and myself have better things to do than tell adults how to behave. There is a set of rules that people have to read and agree too when they register with the site. If they choose not to abide by those rules they will be banned.

Anyone can read a copy of the rules at anytime at

Hey it was only a suggestion and I can understand mods have a work load and do a great job.

Surely then at least save us the time when we look for a post the next day only after searching around concluding that it has been deleted and vanished into cyber space.

If you can leave a thread title and put Moved next to it then how difficult is it to leave a deleted threads title and just put Deleted next to it?

There is no great need to put why it was deleted as that was only a suggestion but not of such importance.

Don't take a friendly suggestion as a slur on your site, its not! In fact it is one of the best forums I have seen.

Only asking that deleted thread titles remain with the word Deleted next to it to make finding and knowing it has been deleted easier.

Cheers

Peter

Sounds like a great idea, but this is why it can't happen.

The Moved feature is automatic, takes two mouse clicks.

To do what you suggest the mods would have to individualy delete each reply, in this case it was about 90 replies, they would then have to edit the original post and insert some text explaining that the post was deleted and then lock the post.

As I said, "the Mods and myself have better things to do than tell adults how to behave"

Will put it on the list and see if it can be done some time.
