View Full Version : Does Ausfish seem slow to load lately?

Is it just me or does it seem the speed of pages loading from Ausfish has slowed over the last few weeks? I have noticed the site has gone through a number of updates recently - has this caused this?

I have broadband at home and ISDN at work, both macs and PC's and it seems similar on all of them? I have become a bit impatient since having broadband, but I am waiting up to a minute for some pages to load, especially at night - it never used to be like that. Maybe there are too many users?

Can anyone please confirm if they have noticed similar results?

Having the same problem. But in saying that Steve has been doing a fair bit of work on the sight of late even last night the sight was meant to be out of action around 9 pm but Steve put this off due to the amount of members logged on at this time.Maybe we have to be patient until He finishes doing whatever He is doing.Afterall it will only make this site better than it allready is.
Jeez he has his work cut out for himself :)

There is a very heavy load around 7 till 10pm, sometimes over 200 people on the chat board alone, let alone the rest of the site. The chatboard script uses a lot of resources and the load at night is very high. Another server upgrade is being arranged but it all takes time.

I have also noticed today that any sites from overseas were very slow. I just did a trace route and found that Bigpond is routing through Brisbane - Sydney - New Zealand and then to the USA. Seems to be a slight deley between Sydney and NZ but a huge delay beween NZ and USA.

As my server is in the USA it is not helping things.

Here is a copy of some of the trace

If anyone on other ISP's can do a tracert it would be interesting to see the results.

Alex, not sure what you mean by that.

The website is hosted in the USA, http://www.365main.com/ , and of late there is a fair delay of late just getting to NZ and then a huge delay getting to the USA. Just depending where Bigpond decides to route through at the time.

Just did a tracert on Ebay.com.au and tonight am being routed through Brisbane - Sydnet - Hong Kong - USA LA and then finally USA San Jose. With 40% packet loss.

You can do a tracert in DOS or use something like Visual Route http://www.visualroute.com/

Thanks Steve, appreciate you looking into it.

200 users at one time - I knew Ausfish was popular, but not that popular.

Im not finding anything slow, but Im online between 9am-noon mostly. Im never online in the evenings. Apart from the odd time the server has been down, Ive had no speed issues at all.
