What do abbreviations mean.

Hey all,
I may be a dummy,
but I know what LOL means but what the hell do the rest of these short terms means here, e.g IMO etc plus any others you guys use, I only know of LOL so any others you can offer would be appreciated as I am getting sick of reading stories when I have to put a blank in the middle of a sentence.

Seing as how the weather is kind of against us this week in the Gold Coast area, I like some others I guess, have kept into fishing mode by reading posts. Being new to chat rooms, it's beginning to bug me a bit when I see so many abbreviations that mean naught to me. I try often to take a guess but still, some elude my reasoning. Would somebody in the know be kind enough to list a few of the most common and help eleviate the frustration I feel at my ignorance?
