Queensland Conservation asks the next Queensland Government to JUST A SNIP OF THIS SITE

Introduce a saltwater recreational fishing licence to Queensland state waters. A licensing system would provide revenue for research, education, habitat protection and rehabilitation. It would also improve the ability to communicate directly with recreational fishers and allow accurate measurement of the recreational fishing catch.

I saw that... my question is.... how will a recreational fishing licence allow "accurate measurement of the recreational fishing catch"???? do we all get a form we have to fill in everytime we catch a fish and submit it?? even then how "accurate" would it be?? Sounds dubious to me.

(Oops there I go again.... from now on... :-X :-X :-X)

...Hi my name is Adam and I'm addicted to posting comments about ridiculous policies on Ausfish.... Hi Adam :P

The thing i find unnerving is that 15 green groups can get together and push a election policy brief

The Green groups will make the assumption that every person possessing a fishing license will be applying maximum effort on the fish stocks.
They can then plead their case that, say, 100,000 licenses are taking their bag limits every time, and fudge the figures for a total recreational effort.
If a license scheme is used this way, it will be iused against the recreational fisherpeople.
Boat and trailer rego fees, boat licensing fees etc, aren't put back into infrastructure. Boat ramps, pontoons, safety education, and promotion doesn't get nearly enough of the revenue generated. Why would all revenue from fishing licenses go back to fishing, no government has done it before, how can they be trusted to do it now?
All fisho's need to remain vigilant, because this battle will go on long after Sept 9th.

One of the methods used previuosly on the GBR to determine recreational catch was to count every boat leaving the boat ramps and then extrapilate this by every boat catching the bag limits of all species available in that area.

Thats really funny Dave - you should be a comedian - do you write your own material or have to ask others?? Oh and nice, meaningful contribution to the topic - keep up the excellent work!!

So thats their so called science?? I have never ever taken my bag limit home for any fish.... EVER (just in case I didnt make the point ;)) (must be a poor fisho) But then again I'm probably the ONLY one and - every one else ALWAYS reaches their bag of every available species EVERY time they go out... what a wank!! Do the pollies see thru all this "scientific stuff" or do they just eat it up??
